‘Blockchain Heroes’ collectibles inspired by top crypto personalities
The WAX blockchain is planning to launch a new digital trading card series 'Blockchain Heroes' based on real crypto personalities. The collectibles will feature 50 unique superheroes inspired by most prominent content creators, influencers and authors throughout the blockchain community.
The card series is created by co-hosts of The Bad Crypto Podcast, Joel Comm and Travis Wright and is a comedic depiction of crypto-world personalities presented as superheroes.
The card designs, hero names and featured personalities are still unknown at present, however, a few names have been dropped so far, including ‘Lady Lightning’, ‘Captain Currency’, and ‘Data Avenger’. The full list of real-life identities will be revealed closer to the launch date.
Joel Comm and Travis Wright have picked up the idea of making their own collectibles from the Garbage Pail Kids trading cards that were released in digital format on the WAX blockchain by the Topps company. The product turned out to be a complete success with selling out in less than 28 hours.
“When we saw what Topps and WAX were able to create together, we discovered the ideal conduit to release a new product which we believe will be embraced by the blockchain community. These cards are going to be fun to collect and trade!”, said Comm.
The 'Blockchain Heroes' project, which is funded by a WAX Labs grant, will launch on the WAX blockchain on August 4, 2020. WAX Director of BD Evan Vandenberg explained that this particular proposal has been selected because of its somewhat original idea - combining the NFT concept with a crypto theme:
“Joel and Travis have put together some incredibly creative collecting concepts and art work. Combine that with crypto-centric themes and characters and I think you have an incredibly interesting project for the space.”
The card series will feature both common and mythical superheroes and will differ from traditional collectible trading cards as the set will be stored on the blockchain in the form of non-fungible Tokens (NFTs). Each card will have a unique minting identification number, providing transparent sales and trading history, immutable ownership records, and provable scarcity.
In their recent live podcast, Comm and Wright introduced the 1st card Litespeed likening him to the Flash. Another two characters are The Prophet, holding up a Bitcoin Cash tablet with a broken Bitcoin tablet on the ground, and Wyldwrangler.
